Bert F. Wertman Alumni Service Award

Established in 1989, this award recognizes an alumnus or alumna of the business school for outstanding service to the school and/or to the university. The award was established in honor of Bert F. Wertman, who served for more than 60 years as president of the Class of 1928. Through his leadership and caring, the class remained a cohesive and vital group and held a record number of continuous reunions.

Tamika Curry Smith

Tamika Curry Smith is Senior Vice President, Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Officer at Arm Holdings, the leading global computing platform with technology that touches more than 70 percent of the world’s population. A global business executive with expertise in human resources, ESG, and DEI, she has also held senior leadership roles at Nike, Inc., Mercedes-Benz USA, Target Corporation, and Deloitte.

Tamika started her career with Deloitte & Touche, where she obtained her CPA license and performed accounting and auditing services. She then joined Deloitte Consulting, where she gained experience in both general management and retail consulting on client engagements focused on strategy, operations, supply chain, and process improvement.

Ms. Curry Smith has shared her expertise as a speaker and facilitator with many organizations, such as the Conference Board, the Society for Human Resource Management, and the National Science Foundation. In addition, she has been featured in numerous publications, including Black Enterprise, the New York Times Magazine, DiversityInc, and Diversity Professional Magazine.

Tamika has received various awards, including Savoy Magazine's Most Influential Executives in Corporate America, Diversity Woman's Elite 100, the Network Journal’s 25 Most Influential Black Women in Business, Diversity MBA's Top 100 Executive Leaders, and AZ Business Magazine’s 50 Most Influential Women in Arizona Business.

Ms. Curry Smith is an Aspen Institute Executive Leadership Program alumna and Lifetime Member of the National Black MBA Association. She is a Career Coach for the Posse Foundation, and also serves on the Advisory Boards of Diverse Leaders for Tomorrow and the Sanger Leadership Center. In addition, she is an Advisor to Goldman Sachs' asset management division, as well as to early stage startups and venture capital firms. An involved alumna at the Ross School of Business, she also was a Lecturer in the Management and Organizations department, an Executive Education Faculty Member, and a Member of the Alumni Board of Governors.

Ms. Curry Smith earned a BBA in Accounting with High Distinction from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. She also obtained an MBA in Organizational Behavior, Strategy, and Marketing from the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management.
