Amalia Sekar Pratiwi

Class of 2026

Hi! I’m Amalia Sekar from Bandung, Indonesia. With a background in industrial engineering, I’ve always been passionate about how technology can transform lives—making things easier and more efficient so we can focus on what truly matters.

Before joining Ross, I spent 10 years at Indonesia’s largest telecommunications company, working in product management. During that time, I handled everything from sales and marketing products to HR solutions, serving as a product manager lead, pricing strategist, go-to-market specialist, and senior UX researcher. I loved exploring how to solve challenges from multiple angles and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

As I advanced in my career, I started asking myself big questions: Why pursue an MBA? Why study in the US? Why Ross? I realized that I wanted to broaden my impact, and the opportunity to learn from world-class professors and classmates at Ross felt like the perfect way to gain a global perspective on product management. The MAP and internship programs at Ross, which offer real-world experiences, also excited me.

The MBA application process was overwhelming at times, but the Ross community was incredibly supportive. Students not only responded when I reached out, but they also helped me discover what I truly needed for my career transition. They shared insights into the school’s collaborative culture—something that isn’t always apparent from just browsing the school's website.

Now that I’m here, I feel myself growing every day, whether it’s through engaging classroom discussions, participating in clubs, pushing my limits in pilates, or experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.

If you’re at a crossroads in your journey or feel like you’re a jack of all trades but master of none, let’s chat! I’d love to share more about my experiences and help you navigate yours.

Go Blue!
