James Yau
After completing my undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan, I began my active duty military career as a Nuclear and Missile Operations Officer in the United States Air Force. As a company grade officer, I served as a team leader responsible for up to 15 launch control centers and 150 nuclear intercontinental ballistic missiles directing daily operations. From there I move into an instructor role providing tactical operational training for unit members. I completed my military service at the University of Michigan serving as Cadre member of the Air Force ROTC program on campus developing future Air and Space Force Officers of tomorrow.
As a former Michigan athlete I've always dreamed of being back at my alma mater, and being stationed back in Ann Arbor has been a blessing as it created an opportunity to join the Michigan Ross WMBA program. Having also been a former small business owner, I knew that Ross would enhance my business acumen as I transitioned from the military. Additionally, the in-person, cohort, experience has been phenomenal, and the faculty and staff make it riveting to be back in the classroom. The Michigan Ross experience is truly like non-other as we are surrounded by individuals striving to be the leaders and best who bring a breadth of experience from diverse backgrounds.
