Laevashan Govender
My name is Laevashan, aka Lee, and I grew up in the coastal city of Durban in South Africa (the one with the really cool soccer stadium). I studied mechanical engineering but pivoted to management consulting fairly early in my career, and had both client-facing and internal strategy roles at KPMG, BCG, and Hatch.
After deciding to head to graduate school to explore the possibility of a more extensive foray into healthcare consulting, I spoke to many people at US and European business schools. After interacting with Ross MBA students, it became clear that it was an institution embodying its commitment to fostering a culture of support for its students throughout their academic and professional journeys. That feeling continued when I arrived in Ann Arbor, as both academic staff and other MBA students offered constant guidance on everything ranging from advice on potential career pathways to recommendations about grocery stores.
Outside of school, I enjoy playing or watching most sports, including soccer, cricket, and Formula 1, tasting the variety of IPAs on offer in Ann Arbor, and trying to eat as many Asian dishes as I can.
I would love to continue the work of my fellow Ross classmates by supporting new and prospective students in learning more about Ross, and by offering tips to international students on making the move to the U.S.!
