Michael Konieczny
Originally from Brighton, MI, I studied Civil Engineering and completed Army ROTC at the University of Michigan as part of my undergraduate education. I went on to spend five years as an active-duty infantry officer with the US Army, deploying to both Kandahar, Afghanistan and Baghdad, Iraq. Leaving the Army in 2019, I worked as a civil engineering consultant in the Austin, TX metropolitan area, predominately focusing on single family residential land development.
While I enjoyed the quantitative challenge of engineering, I decided to pursue business school as a path toward a role in management consulting, which I saw as an ideal opportunity to combine the people and leadership skills I gained in the Army with my technical skills from engineering. I came to Ross because of its focus on collaboration and action-based learning, its impressive career placement, and a strong desire to return to the University of Michigan. Outside of class, I try to work out regularly whether it be going to the gym, running, or cycling. I also spend a lot of my free time exploring the culinary scene in Ann Arbor, cooking, and listening to audiobooks.
Feel free to ask me anything about Michigan Ross, the application process, or transitioning as a veteran or engineer into an MBA program.
