Siddharth S Premkumar
Prior to Ross, I worked at a nonprofit in the social development sector and at a Big 4 consulting firm in their Aerospace and Defense practice. From supporting children from the vulnerable communities’ dream about flying airplanes to helping entities fly into outer space, my experiences have equipped me with strategy and operational skillsets.
I am originally from Bangalore, India and have an undergraduate degree in Electronics and Communications engineering. After graduation, I worked for a global IT services firm and later, went on to pursue my post graduate diploma in Liberal Studies (Young India Fellowship) from Ashoka University. AU’s inter-disciplinary academic approach and emphasis on experiential learning helped me embrace different perspectives to problem solving, which helped me transition into consulting. In this role as an Associate, I leveraged my analytical skills to improve profitability and revenues for my clients. After much reflection and research, I transitioned into the social development sector.
Despite lacking prior experience, I developed scalable solutions, collaborating with multiple stakeholders – government, civil society, and nonprofits – to support citizens from marginalized societies.
While these experiences gave me real-world exposure, I lacked a formal business education. Hence, I decided to pursue my MBA to learn about core business concepts. Without a doubt, Ross was the place for me from the beginning. Since my first conversation with a Student Ambassador, I felt welcomed into the community. Now that I am here, I see myself growing every day, be it during 8:00 AM classroom discussions or while preparing for a club meeting on a lazy Sunday afternoon!
So, if you are at a crossroad in your B-school journey or feel that you are a “Jack of All and Master of None”, hit me up!
