Simon Velez

Hello! I’m Simon from Medellín, Colombia. Before Ross, I worked in private equity and consulting and led growth for tech and biotech startups across Latin America. Most recently, as Chief Growth Officer at Residua, I helped scale operations in Colombia and Mexico by transforming organic waste into valuable insect-based protein products.

I chose Ross for its collaborative culture and action-based learning, allowing me to grow as a leader and strategist. The Zell Lurie Venture Capital Fund has been a highlight, giving me hands-on experience alongside my academic journey.

Outside of school, I’m passionate about endurance sports—I'm currently training for Ironman 70.3—and co-founded a volunteer organization that teaches personal finance to rural students in Colombia.

I'm happy to chat about transitioning into an MBA, moving to the U.S., or anything else.
