Siwei Zhang
Aloha! I'm Siwei Zhang, born and raised in mainland China, though you can call me Bruce if you prefer. I completed my undergraduate studies in the United Kingdom, majoring in Environmental Engineering, and earned my first master's degree at the University of Toronto in Canada, all to experience different educational styles. Now, here I am at Ross.
After graduating from U of T, I spent my entire career in an engineering and construction firm in China, specializing in the infrastructure and renewable energy sectors. I started as a process engineer and later transitioned into roles as a proposal manager and business development manager before pursuing my MBA. During this period, I had the privilege of working in Ho Chi Minh City, Dubai, and Hong Kong, as well as traveling to some lesser-known countries for work. Throughout my years in this traditional industry, I realized how critical it is to harness data and analytical tools to streamline operations. This insight drove me to pursue an MBA at Ross, with a focus on consulting and a particular interest in operations.
Outside of academics and work, I lead what some might call a simple life, largely centered around sports. I'm an avid Ultimate Frisbee player, having competed on my university’s varsity team during undergrad, and later co-founding a club with friends back in China.
If you share a similarly unconventional pre-MBA background, I’d love to connect. And if you have any questions about the application process or life at Ross, U-M, or Ann Arbor, feel free to reach out—I'm an open book. Mic drop, and GO BLUE!
