Travis McHugh
Originally from Redwood City, CA, I studied economics at Princeton University where I lettered in two varsity sports: football and track & field. Upon graduation, I worked in tech sales in Austin and San Francisco for 7 years at both enterprise and startup companies such as Box, Productiv, and Rippling. I made the choice to attend business school holistically to broaden my business aperture, to learn how to strategically approach problems from a multitude of perspectives, and to practice leading diverse populations.
With an aim to continue working in the tech sector or at the nexus of technology and climate science, I chose to attend Ross because of (1) our tight-knit community and our shared ethos of paying it forward, (2) Ross' focus on action based learning and tangibly applying scholastic concepts to real world situations, (3) the ability to take classes at the School of Environment and Sustainability and to commingle with students from various disciplines, (4) Michigan football.
At Ross I'm member of Michigan Climate Venture and am very proudly the Co-President of The Ross Bus (the best tailgate in the Midwest) as I believe in embracing life with enthusiasm, seeking ways to create community and everlasting memories for the extended MBA community, and engaging in candid conversations. My MAP project involved building out a GTM strategy plan for a technology company that focuses on grid utilization optimization and I spent the summer of 2024 intering as a General Management Acceleration Program intern at Republic Services.
Though I specialize in migration recommendations from the west coast, maintaining fitness and wellness routines while a student at Ross, how to enter business school if you have no idea what you actually want to do for your career, or if you're still on the fence about going to business school at all, I'm open to chatting about anything :)
