Balanced and In Control: Meet the Michigan Ross Master of Accounting Class of 2023
This year, 80 students from around the world are joining the Master of Accounting Program at the Ross School of Business.
Members of the MAcc Class of 2023 come from 41 different undergraduate institutions — 28 of them are alumni of the Michigan Ross BBA Program — and their average GPA is 3.66. Women represent 57% of the class.
Below, meet three members of the new Michigan Ross MAcc class.
Dalyah Alburaik
Hometown: Dhahran, Saudi Arabia
Undergraduate school/major: Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University, Bachelor of Science in accounting
Post-graduation career interest: Chief financial officer of a subsidiary owned by my sponsored company
Why did you decide to enroll in the Michigan Ross Master of Accounting Program?
My sponsored company gave me the opportunity to pursue a master of accounting degree; therefore, I decided to enroll in the Michigan Ross Master of Accounting Program to fulfill my organization’s need by adding value to the company and country by applying all the knowledge gained and, most importantly, further developing myself.
What made the Ross MAcc program stand out to you versus other programs?
I was looking at a list of highly ranked business schools and the Ross MAcc Program was the most appealing for its incredible reputation, well-structured program that fits my development needs, and friendly staff and professors
What are you most looking forward to in the program and at Ross?
I’m so excited for the trip to Washington, D.C., (for the EY Accounting and Public Policy Symposium) and thrilled to meet my classmates and the professors.
How do you believe pursuing this degree at Ross will help you in your career?
Pursuing this degree at Ross will help me in achieving my goals of earning a CPA and of strengthening my accounting and analytical skills. Achieving these goals will be important for my career advancement.

Post-graduation career interest: My post-graduation plans are to join Deloitte’s Audit & Assurance group with an interest in pursuing forensic accounting.
Why did you decide to enroll in the Michigan Ross Master of Accounting Program?
I decided to pursue a degree from the Ross MAcc program to extend the fundamental accounting principles introduced to me in my undergraduate career and to fulfill the necessary requirements for the CPA exam.
What made the Ross MAcc program stand out to you versus other programs?
Beyond returning to the place I called home, the Ross MAcc Program stood out to me because of the remarkable faculty and curriculum. When pursuing my bachelor’s degree at Ross, I experienced significant attention toward my professional growth that I am eager to have as a resource again.
What are you most looking forward to in the program and at Ross?
I am most excited about meeting the students in my cohort. I look forward to learning alongside them, developing connections and friendships, and being able to witness them beyond the program in their own professional careers.
How do you believe pursuing this degree at Ross will help you in your career?
Through my experiences combatting the rigorous curriculum and the relationships I develop, I believe that pursuing my degree at Ross will allow me to perform in a competitive business environment at a higher standard and help me create a strong will to surpass any difficulty.

Why did you decide to enroll in the Michigan Ross Master of Accounting Program?
I want to continue to further myself in the field of accounting as I continue to work toward becoming a certified public accountant.
What made the Ross MAcc Program stand out to you versus other programs?
The MAcc program incorporates a more modern, technological component that is coupled with accounting theory to better equip students for their careers. Ross also has a CPA exam training track to prepare students to take the exam once they graduate.
What are you most looking forward to in the program and at Ross?
I'm really looking forward to traveling to Washington, D.C., for the EY Accounting and Public Policy Symposium and all the insightful and valuable information we will be exposed to.
How do you believe pursuing this degree at Ross will help you in your career?
I believe once we graduate we will be equipped with knowledge and skills that will accelerate our careers and make us irreplaceable, intangible assets for the foreseeable future.
