Watch Now: An Insightful Discussion With Best-Selling Author Dr. Ibram X. Kendi on the History of Anti-Black Racism
In partnership with the U-M’s Rackham Graduate School, the School of Education, and the School of Social Work, Michigan Ross co-sponsored an event featuring Dr. Ibram X. Kendi, author of Stamped from the Beginning.
Dr. Kendi led a conversation about Stamped from the Beginning, which explores the deeply entrenched history of anti-Black racist ideas upon which the U.S. was founded and continues to function. During the 45-minute discussion, he explored how to expose and dismantle racism in communities and answered questions from participants.

Kendi is the Andrew W. Mellon Professor in the Humanities at Boston University, and the founding director of the BU Center for Antiracist Research. He is a contributing writer at The Atlantic and a CBS News correspondent. Kendi is the 2020–2021 Frances B. Cashin Fellow at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University.
He is the author of many books, including Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America, which won the National Book Award for Nonfiction, and three #1 New York Times bestsellers, How to Be an Antiracist; Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You, co-authored with Jason Reynolds; and Antiracist Baby, illustrated by Ashley Lukashevsky. The discussion was the second event in the Ross 2020-21 Business and Society series, which is dedicated to issues of race in business this year and part of the Ross Commitment to Action.
