Iris Yu, MBA '14
Iris worked in project management in the high-tech sector before joining her family business, an eyeglasses manufacturer in Taiwan.
When she decided to further her business education, hearing about Ross from a friend who is an alum made it an easy decision to enroll in the Global MBA program.
While she enjoyed the diverse backgrounds of the students, the Global MBA's Asia session was a particular highlight of her Ross education. Although she had visited mainland China, Japan, and Korea in the past, studying in those countries deepened her understanding of them.
"When I took the courses there and talked to the local people, the feeling was different," she says. In Ann Arbor, she liked the "strong teamwork culture" emphasized at Ross.
She also enjoyed getting a taste of life at a major American university — especially the way that football fever takes over the city on Saturdays in the fall, with maize and blue everywhere. She says with a laugh, "The whole town looks like a family."
