Executive Education Faculty Honored at the Michigan Ross 2023 Faculty & Staff Awards
At the annual Faculty Staff & Awards in May 2023, Michigan Ross School of Business faculty from a variety of backgrounds were celebrated for their outstanding accomplishments and community contributions, and among those honored were members of Michigan Ross Executive Education faculty.
Michigan Ross Executive Education currently partners with over 70 Ross faculty as well as faculty members from other schools at University of Michigan and external experts to deliver programs for individuals and custom solutions for organizations with focuses on leadership, management, human resources, and other critical business areas.
The first Executive Education faculty honored at the award ceremony was Professor Andy Hoffman, who was awarded the Victor L. Bernard Teaching Leadership Award, which recognizes a broad range of teaching endeavors, work with Ph.D. students, course design, and work with colleagues. A recipient of numerous teaching awards and the author of over 18 books, including the award-winning “Management as a Calling,” Professor Hoffman focuses on the processes by which environmental issues both emerge and evolve as social, political, and managerial issues, including the evolving nature of field level pressures related to environmental issues; the corporate responses that have emerged as a result of those pressures, particularly around the issue of climate change; the interconnected networks among non-governmental organizations and corporations and how those networks influence change processes within cultural and institutional systems; the social and psychological barriers to these change processes; and the underlying cultural values that are engaged when these barriers are overcome. Within Executive Education, Professor Hoffman has taught in numerous custom leadership programs for global clients, including Saudi Telecom and Tata Group.
The second Executive Education faculty honored at the award ceremony was Professor Paula Caproni, who received the Executive Education Teaching Impact Award, given in recognition of innovation in teaching and learning, advocacy for executive education, and evaluations from executive education participants. An author of two books and the prior recipient of the Executive Education Teaching and Impact in Open Enrollment Programs Award in 2013, Professor Caproni teaches leadership skills, effective coaching, developing power and influence, and creating high-performing teams in the University of Michigan MBA and Executive Education programs. She has coached over 500 executives and has worked with a variety of organizations, including Bank of America, Ford Motor Company, Google, the NFL, and Philips. For Executive Education programs for individuals, Professor Caproni currently teaches in the Emerging Leaders Program, which prepares managers from a wide variety of industries for the next level in their leadership role with cutting-edge leadership strategies, practices, and tools.
Three other Executive Education faculty were given additional recognition at the beginning of the ceremony for previously announced awards. Lindy Greer, Professor for Management & Organizations at Ross and the Faculty Director of the Sanger Leadership Center, was a recipient of the J. Frank Yates Diversity and Inclusion Teaching Excellence Award as part of the 2023 Ross DEI Awards announced in April. This award recognizes a member of the Ross teaching faculty who demonstrates a commitment to diversity and inclusion and makes a significant positive impact on learning by students. Within Professor Greer’s work for Ross Executive Education, she regularly coaches C-suite teams on a global basis and designs and runs senior leadership development programs for some of the world’s most influential companies. She specializes in creating high-performing leadership teams and entrepreneurial organizations and in leading culture transformations around teamwork, conflict management, collaboration, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Professors John D Branch and Puneet Manchanda were awarded the Neary Teaching Excellence Awards as part of the Ross 2023 Commencement Ceremony, which are selected by the student body in recognition of outstanding contributions to their academic learning experience at Ross. Professor John Branch, who was awarded the MM and Weekend MBA Teaching Award, currently teaches a variety of marketing and international business courses at the undergraduate, MBA, and executive levels. Professor Branch has taught in a variety of custom leadership programs for Ross Executive Education clients as well as the popular Strategic Leaders Program. Professor Manchanda, who was awarded the Global MBA Teaching Excellence Award, teaches in a variety of custom programs for Ross Executive Education for companies such as Huron Capital, ICBC, Saudi Telecom, Spectrum Health, McGraw-Hill, the Riverside Company, Mahindra, TATA and the GS Group.
